EmailMixed fortunes at the Masters at the weekend looks like half the Scotland O'45 team will have a local connection with myself, Jim Wells & Russell Hunter ( Ex Lbie ) in. Unfortunately Davy Lindsay hampered by a shoulder injury will miss out this year but hopefully with some summer training will be in the frame next season.

In reply to oor harry re 'junior challenge match' maybe misinterpreted your quote from a recent post.....? 'For everyones information it is David Lindsay, our junior coach & co-ordinator, who is the only person to contact with any queries regarding the Juniors.' And also my kids are still laughing at me when asked to get my permission to use the phone !!!!

Junior leagues are up on the junior section of club notice board. One league for the boys and one league for the girls. The parent/guardian of any junior wishing to join these leagues must contact David Lindsay. Davids contact details are on the junior section of the notice board and David will guide them on the required completion of parental consent forms, eye protection policy and other relevant information.

Apologies but the intended April visit to have a friendly with Western Squash is out due to the Westerns busy schedule. However Martin Woods is arranging a date for September 2011 for a pre season friendly.
Ww will post a notice for players nearer the time.

On a formal note it is not club policy to encourage juniors to call the junior co-ordinator for a number of reasons. Firstly they must be told they need to have parents permission to use the home phone or use their own mobile and secondly this is not the correct procedure to follow. Any queries are best brought up at coaching or in a letter from parents. The Hon Sec, Chairman and David have spent countless hours arranging the required safety and legal side of coaching the Juniors in framing a eye protection policy and a parental consent form. This idea in the previous post plus countless others have already been discussed. The ultimate aim is to have a dumfries and galloway junior league. However we need to have the juniors at a sutiable level in play and court safety/awareness for all this to happen. This will be determined by thr junior co-ordinator. How can club members help to achieve this aim? Easy- just add your name with the Hon Sec and Chairman's , who have already volunteered,

Good turn out this evening with Parents to complete consent forms & Juniors to play squash. Parents were able to purchase subsidised eye protection & these were given out by Alister Moffat and David Lindsay on behalf of the club. Parents/juniors also received a copy of the short version of the squash rules plus relevant information on the clubs spend on juniors and details of Club committee etc. Photo taken by Jin Thomson hopefully in Herald next week.
For everyones information it is David Lindsay, our junior coach & co-ordinator, who is the only person to contact with any queries regarding the Juniors.
Good to see the courts busy with parents keen to watch the game and juniors who are keen to play the game.Junior final plus clubPlate final next friday. All details on notice board and on club website. Please attend and give support to all the finalists if you can.

Need glasses.
The previous posting should say disclosure Scotland should NOT deter volunteers etc.etc

Just to confirm that the Club will be going to try and become an accredited club. The joining of Scottish Squash was the first required step in a long list. The next step was the health & safety audit and the Clubs Junior eye protection policy plus parental consent forms & apponinting a Junior co-ordinator. This is David Lindsay our qualified coach. All queries as regards jumiors must be passed to David and no one else. All volunteers must also undergo Disclosure Scotland but this should deter volunteers as the CLub will arrange this,Plenty work going on in the CLub & the more people that are willing to be involved the better.

Still more names needed for volunteers to help with the Juniors. Would appreciate if we could have some volunteers from the Lady members. This would be helpful for example in Junior mixed groups.

Volunteers to help with Junior Coaching.
The Club would appreciate if volunteers could come forward to help with the junior coaching. All coaching will be under the control of our junior coaching co-coordinator & volunteers will only ensure the training methods & safety instructions set down are followed on court by the juniors.
All volunteers, as per the Parental consent rules, will require undergoing Disclosure Scotland but this will be arranged by the Club at no cost to an individual.

Email Mrs Carter has just had a intimadating letter through the door from the committee, I would just like to say that if the individual had a issue with any offhand comment he should have had a word with annette himself and not to be so heavyhanded and involve the club in the first instance. Hopefully this will draw a line ...under this issue and lets get back to playing and promoting squash.
